Alternate Mounting Locations with the Ketch Rod Holder Delete Plate

Think the Rod Holder Delete Plate is only for Hobie kayaks, or has to be mounted where there’s a rod tube already? Think again.

In this video, Duke demonstrates a clever modification using the Ketch Rod Holder Delete Plate for both 2-pin and 3-pin Attwood bases, the same bases used with the Firefly Jr. 360 Light and other plug-in marine lights.

The twist? We’re not installing it at the rod tube location, it’s way back near the stern.
This technique works on other kayak brands, giving you expanded rigging flexibility and the ability to put your light (or accessory) exactly where you want it.

In This Video

  • How to install the delete plate in non-standard locations

  • Using 2-pin and 3-pin Attwood bases with the delete plate

  • Tips for clean routing and secure mounting

  • Examples on different kayak platforms

Why This Matters

  • The delete plate creates a stable, low-profile mount in places you couldn’t before

  • Works with multiple kayak brands, not just Hobie

  • Lets you position lights and accessories for optimal utility and visibility

  • This opens up mounting a Firefly jr 360 light on many models that we don’t make a specific plate for.
